The Virgin of the Rocks originally was painted by one of the greatest artists and he was Leonardo da Vinci. There are two versions of The Virgin of the Rocks. The first version painted was the one that Leonardo da Vinci painted. The paint represents the meeting of the child Jesus and the child John the Baptist. The figures are located with a fantastic and mysterious landscape with rivers. They seem to lead nowhere and the strange rock formations that remember the Dolomite Mountains of the northeaster of Italy. The second version of The Virgin of the Rocks was originally painted by an Italian artist and his name was Fra Filipo Lippi which was the first time that an Italian Renaissance artist completely abandoned halos. Fra Filipo Lippi decided to put a narrow ring around Mary's head to indicate divinity. "But Leonardo da Vinci found other way to indicate divinity by giving the figures ideal beauty and grace."
